Yoga for Hysterectomy

We have recently put together a Yoga for Hysterectomy programme. A private one to one yoga client left us  some lovely feedback after going through the programme.  We wanted to share with you the details of the pre-operation yoga programme that we have put together to prepare the body for hysterectomy surgery.

“Hellooooo everyone, I just wanted to write a little something regarding the one to ones I’ve been having with Paul and to say how much I’ve appreciated all the help and he’s given me. I attend a weekly group session with Paul and Steve which is brilliant, but decided to have some one to ones in preparation for a hysterectomy I’m due to have, and it has been wonderful the preparation and research that Paul has done to put together a personalised plan for me has been just wonderful, I would strongly recommend anyone going through a similar thing to consider this. I feel that I will be able to aid my own recovery by being in a really good state of mind and body.

Tia is a valued and regular member of our public yoga classes and she approached us for a one to one session to help her prepare for a hysterectomy operation.

Thorough Research

We thoroughly researched this procedure.  Then we put together a session focussing on all the key areas that need to be strengthened to allow for optimal recovery post-surgery. The main areas being mental preparation, breathing exercises, the pelvic floor, core strength and the muscles around the abdominal area including the glutes and hips.

Home Practice

We took Tia through this plan across two private one to one sessions.  She was also  provided  with a detailed session plan. As a result she able to practice at home. Tia will be able to build strength in her body in all the key areas required.  This will put her in the best place from which to undergo surgery. Strengthening muscles in the area of any surgery helps the muscles heal more quickly post-operation. This focussed session will help greatly reduce any of the potential problems that can be associated with hysterectomy surgery.

One to one Yoga Sessions – Spotlight on Catherine

I have just got back from teaching a one to one Yoga session to our lovely yoga student Catherine in the sunshine in Ashton Park, West Kirby. What a perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Catherine was completely new to Yoga when I started teaching her in January this year. She has made fantastic progress in her practice with each session and has established a home practice from the handouts and guidance that we provide.

Catherine allowed me to take a picture of her (above) in Halasana (plough pose) this afternoon. This posture shows the progress she has made and demonstrates perfect form with strength, stability and ease. Catherine has noticed her strength and flexibility improve and has found the breathing techniques and relaxations beneficial in dealing with life in general!

The second picture above is how we end our practice, with a guided relaxation. Today we had the pleasure of being able to relax in the warmth of the afternoon sunshine in the beautiful natural surroundings of Ashton Park. We had a curious little blackbird wandering around whilst we practiced!

Feedback from a business owning Yoga client – relaxation benefits

We’ve had some lovely feedback from one of our male clients, Steven. We have been providing him and his wife with couples yoga sessions. He has found the relaxation aspect of Yoga very beneficial as he has his own business and Yoga has helped him switch off. Steven had the following to say;

Feedback from One to One private yoga client – new to yoga

We received some lovely feedback from our most recent yoga client, Catherine.

Catherine had a one to one yoga session at her home and here is what she said;

“Thank you for my first yoga session this morning. I enjoyed it more than I thought I ever would. The breathing and relaxation techniques you are teaching me will be of huge benefit to my life. From the beginning of the lesson I felt relaxed, calm and able to focus on myself, for a change! You are a patient, concise, gentle teacher allowing me to accomplish more than I imagined in my first lesson. I am looking forward to our next in a couple of weeks time.” Catherine, West Kirby.

Feedback from a One to One client – New to Yoga

We received some lovely feedback from one of our new One to One clients, Lucy. Lucy was completely new to Yoga and I taught her a beginner class and also gave her some homework to do around her breath and a couple of postures to practice. I’m glad to hear she has been doing her homework and enjoyed her introduction to yoga!

“I was completely new to yoga. I was a little nervous and unsure what to expect. Paul made me feel calm and relaxed immediately. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my first yoga session. I felt wonderful afterwards and in the days to follow. I will be making yoga an important part of my weekly routine. Paul helped me understand the importance of deep breathing and how this links in with the movements our bodies do in yoga. I have enjoyed practising my breathing and some yoga positions since my session. Paul explained everything very clearly. I had a wonderful first experience of yoga thanks to Paul.
